NEW RULE AMMENDMENT
It is the responsibility of the Driver to adhere to the following:
All wheels must have the correct amount and correct type of wheel nuts fitted to all wheels, e.g. steel wheel nuts for steel wheels and alloy nuts for alloy wheels. Any after market wheels will need to have been advised from manufacturer.
The correct amount of wheel nuts for the wheels MUST be fitted to the wheel at all times, this includes that your car must have wheel nuts correctly torque prior to scruitineering and during racing. You will have to sign at scrutineering to say that you have correctly identified and torque your wheels to the correct setting.
It is the drivers responsibility to check the torque settings of your wheel fitments and we recommend checking the auto data technical book or auto data direct or the manufacturer of your vehicle to obtain the torque wrench settings for the vehicle you intend to use.
Should you change a wheel during racing it is the drivers responsibility to notify us immediately once work is complete and you will have to sign again to say that the you have correctly torque your wheels to the correct settings.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ANY CAR PRESENTED FOR SCRUITINEERING OR PRE/POST RACING WITHOUT CORRECT WHEEL NUTS WILL BE LOADED AND NOT ALOUD TO RACE

The rules set out are to be used in conjunction with the Thunder rod formula, any query regarding the rules detailed below should be made by contacting the office telephone number.
The outline of the formula is for low cost NON CONTACT racing.
Cars are to be of an originally manufactured type between 1800cc and 3000cc, fuel injection is allowed.
Turbos are allowed also.
No SUV or MPV.
Turbos can be removed and the car allowed running naturally aspirated.
Injection cars can be modified to carburettor.
4x4 cars can be converted to 2 wheel drive.
No 4 wheel steered cars are aloud
All cars must be brightly painted and sign written, Damaged and Poorly presented cars will be excluded, this is not a formula for wannabe banger drivers.
1. Body shells are to remain standard
2. Doors may be welded or bolted shut, but must be secured shut.
3. All bumpers must be fitted and secondary fixings are compulsory with a minimum 13 mil nut and bolt, Cables ties and or rivets are not satisfactory. Skirts and Arch kits are allowed but are NOT compulsory, however wheel base must not be altered except for inset and offset wheels, Arch and skirt kits if fitted must be steel, Plastic kits are not allowed.
4. Bonnet and boot bolts or pins are compulsory, size and number is free, but must be a maximum of 19mm headed bolt or nut.
5. Front and rear light apertures are to be covered with metal.
6. Suspension should be of the original nature of the car, Suspension pick up points may be moved within the original chassis or sub frames, but without the addition of any extra metal, springs may be cut or heated to gain the required ride height. Shock absorbers must be of the original type fitted to the make and model of car.
7. Engines are free internally but must remain standard on the outside, in particular carburettors must be the type fitted as standard.
8. Any gearbox or axle may be used which fits the car without any modifications, locked differentials are allowed.
9. Roll cages may be of the full type or rear hoop with cross bracing or ‘H’ frame as per banger rules, but must be securely and safely fitted.
10. A door plate or chicken bar must be fitted inside the door skin and bolted through or welded to the "A" and "B" pillars. Bolts must NOT protrude through the door skins, and must be a min of 50x50 box or tube 3mm thick. If using a plate this must be a min of 12" deep and 10mm thick.
11. Original fuel tanks must be removed. Fuel tank should be securely mounted to the H Frame if fitted, or inside the roll cage area if fitted with a full/hoop cage, but behind the driver. Tanks must be metal or aluminium, with metal screw filler cap. All tanks must have a top feed and a breather pipe which terminates beneath the car and away from the exhaust. All cars must have an operational accessible fuel tap within the easy reach of the driver.
12. All cars must have a fully functioning electrical cut off switch situated on the passenger side of the vehicle.
13. A working brake light must be fitted.
14. Exhaust systems must be fitted and effective in their silencing, attention must be paid to under floor mounting, and a decibel reading of 96 max should be achieved. Minimum 2 box system and only tailpipe can be cut.
15. Race seats may be fitted, If this is the case then a supporting bar must be fitted at shoulder height if a H frame is not used
16. Harnesses must be minimum 5 point, 3 inch wide, fitted and have the Nascar or helicopter type buckle.
17. *Any road legal tyre and wheel can be used provided they fit without modification. No gaitors.
18. Fire extinguishers of the 1kg dry powder type with a contents gauge are compulsory in your support vehicle.
19. Crash helmets with visor or goggles must be that of the E2205 fibreglass, proban overalls and gloves are compulsory. Neck bracing is recommended.
20. All cars must display the drivers registered number on a suitable size roof fin plate with BLACK NUMBERS ON A WHITE BACKGROUND. Numbers must be displayed as large as is possible on both sides of the car on the doors, drivers name must be displayed in a suitable position.
21. All cars must have their correct roof grade colour, or they will only be allowed to start at the rear of the grid, with no points and no prize monies.
22. Batteries must be fitted to the H Frame if this is used or inside the car in a suitably fitted battery box inside the roll cage cell.
23. Drivers wishing to race at a championship meeting must have raced a minimum of 2 meetings prior to the Southern or Western Championships, Failure to have raced at 2 meetings prior will result in forfeiting of the main races themselves.
24. All Airbags, must be removed.
25. All cars must have an interior mirror
* Tyres must be of NON competition/Track day type, All Yokohama, Hoosier, Avon tyres and Toyo 888 will be deemed illegal and not be allowed to be fitted.
* Toyo tyres type 1R and 1S are allowed to be used as they are road tyres.
* All tyres must have a tread depth of no less than 3 mil from across the centre line to the outer two thirds of the tyre.
* Tyre markings must be clearly visible, any scrubbed tyre or removal of marking will deem your car illegal.
* Tyres must be Road legal only away from the prohibited tyres above, We are aware that a new tyre which will be of competition brand will be found sooner or later, however before you intend to use any tyre other than off the shelf standard road tyres, you are requested to ask for permission from your rep to utilise any tyre you intend to use.

All drivers must be Signed on by 17:30 at the latest (on a Saturday meeting) or you will be charged an additional £5.00 to race and also forfeited any prize monies won, we are having to adopt this rule as drivers continually turn up late and hold the meeting up.
