CARS
Any standard manufactured car 8 valve only front wheel drive only.
All cars to remain their original silhouette, but you may add arches and skirt kits.
Cars are to be of mono type only, no separate chassis allowed.
All glass, trim, exterior trim, original fuel tanks, gas struts to tailgate, wheel weights, must be removed prior to racing and arriving at the stadium, anyone caught dumping rubbish will be excluded from the site.
The formula is strictly NON contact; anyone deemed to be deliberately causing damage to other competitors by means of contact will be excluded from the formula.
Cars must be presented to the site ready to race, with a bright presented paint job.
A full 4 post roll cage must be used, with a hoop behind driver and in front of driver, it must have a minimum of 2 chicken bars drivers side, and passenger side of the vehicle, a bar must be welded in the roof to secure roll gage front and rear hoop, all roll gage feet must be securely bolted or welded using a minimum of 3mm plate, roll cage must be a minimum of either 1”1/4 x 3mm thick tube, or 1” half x 1” half square hollow section 3mm thick, and be welded fully at all joints.
A bar must be welded to support the driver’s seat at shoulder height, we advise a diagonal brace or cross from top of cage to rear strut tops.
A bar must be welded in the windscreen aperture so as to help stop any debris that may enter the driver area.
ENGINES
UP TO 1300cc 8 VALVE NON INJECTION OHV OR OHC
IF ITS NOT HERE YOU CANT DO IT
NO MODIFICATIONS TO ENGINES EXCEPT AS LISTED
Blocks
1 Engines may be rebored to a maximum .03mil oversize
2 crankshafts maybe reground no steel crankshafts
3 woodruff keys or dowels must be fitted
4 engine balancing is not permitted no machining of pistons
engines must be standard and not machined in any way.
No competition pistons
5 no centre main strap
6 sumps may be baffled oil pump pickups may be relocated
FLYWHEELS
Must remain standard (no lightening allowed)
HEADS
7 Heads may be skimmed no modification to oil ways
8 Camshafts must correspond to engine used original manufactures/motor factors replacement cam only and standard with no competition cams allowed
No high lift cams no reprofiled or reground cams
Cam Boxes
Must remain standard and not modified (no machining allowed)
Camshafts must correspond to engine used i.e.
no 1300 cams on 1200 block
1300 engine = 1300 cam
1200engine = 1200 cam
9 woodruff key must be fitted
10 standard valve springs are free within manufacturers range
11 no matching or machining of inlet manifold or exhaust manifold to match ports standard
Manifolds only casting marks to remain
DISTRIBUTORS
Must remain as standard, unwelded, but can be moved to adjust timing.
CARBURETTORS
12 vauxhall astra / nova / corsa must use standard carburettor to car used, but no interchanging of carb tops to Venturi and No variajet carbs
13 ford escorts etc must use standard carburettors, no competiton carbs or workings.
14 other makes of cars must use original carbs as fitted when new details can be found in
Haynes manuals and must be standard
GASKETS
Only standard gaskets can be used throughout the engine and its ancillaries, no competition gaskets or shells or bearings allowed.
15 twin choke carburettors must retain their progressive action no variajet carbs or competition
Carbs.
16 no drilling of jets, jets must be standard to car used, no interchanging of carbs or tops
Carb used should be standard form, without interchanging to venture size.
17 carburettor butterfly must not be modified or removed
18 air filters are optional, and can be of k & n type or similar, but must not increase engine power.
TRANSMISSION
19 gearboxs and axles must remain standard to model of car used
20 diffs are free within manufactures standard range
21 diffs must NOT be locked
22 no limited slip diffs or competitions diffs pemitted
23 ratios of clusters may be changed within manufactures range
24 drive shafts must be within manufactures range
SUSPENSION
25 shock absorbers are to be standard and no competition, and must fit in original holes
26 springs must be standard, no competition, and maybe lowered to help setup
27 wheelbases must be manufacturers standard and not widened or shortened, however, nearside and offside front wheels maybe moved forwards or backwards to help setup, but once achieved must not be adjustable
28 bottom arms max 1" lengthening non adjustable & must be welded
29 camber is free i.e. negative or positive on front or rear axles suspension turrets maybe redrilled shock absorbers may have bolt holes lengthened, no tim barns modified hubs or similar.
30 tie bars maybe lenghtened or cut shorter, but must be non adjustable
31 no coilover shock absorbers
NO SUSPENSION PARTS TO BE ADJUSTABLE
Camber can be achieved by redrilling turret tops, hub to strut holes, or bottom arm, but if all or any are used must not be more than a combined movement of 1” between all methods, all must be fixed by welding except for turret tops which can be moved to upright position from negative camber only on the front passenger side.
SHOCKS, TIE BARS, BOTTOM ARMS
Must be fixed and non adjustable
WHEELS AND TYRES
32 wheels must not exceed 6j in width, No spacers allowed
TYRES must be either Technic Nova or Yokohama AA01 A/Drive T Rated only Sizes 175/70/13 , 185/60/65/14 profile only.
BRAKES
33 all brakes must be efficient on all wheels at all times and must have a working handbrake brakes are free within manufactures range a rear brake light must be fitted and working
EXHAUST SYSTEMS
34 all cars must have a full exhaust system including back box, back tail pipe may be cut
35 a decibel reading of 96 DECIBELS IS THE LIMIT IF YOU FAIL THIS YOU WILL BE EXCLUED, even if you are winning
PRESENTATION OF CARS
36 all cars must be presented in a clean and tidy condition all panels must be securely attached i.e. doors, bonnet, boot, wings DOORS AND BONNET MUST BE SECURED WITH QUICK RELEASE FIXINGS IF ANY OF THE ABOVE BECOMES DETACHED DURING A RACE IT MAY INCUR A PENALTY
37 if skirts and arches are fitted they must not exceed 2" at their upper most point of fixing
38 no sharp edges all panels must be rounded off
FIRE PROOF BULKHEADS
39 all cars must have protected bulkheads of non flammable material between driver and engine and between driver and fuel tank
FUEL TANKS
40 petrol from service stations only
41 fuel lines must run inside car when passing though bulkheads they must run though grommets to prevent chaffing a fuel shut off tap must be fitted and marked on / off
42 tanks must be of a maximum 2 gallons and fitted with a breather vent which runs though the floor to prevent spillage if inverted it must have non spill caps original tanks must be removed their must be a fire wall between tank and driver alloy race tanks are permitted top feed tanks only, tanks must be within the roll cage frame but behind the driver.
OIL CATCH TANKS
43 you must have an oil catch tank no catch tanks allowed in cockpit area of car
BATTERIES
44 batteries must be securely fixed and covered in a non metallic material if fitted inside the car it must be in a leak proofed box
CUT OFF SWITCH
45 only lever operated or push / pull switches will be accepted and must be marked on / off it must be positioned in the nearside rear passenger window and working.
STARTER MOTORS
46 must be fitted and in working order at all times
BRAKE LIGHTS
47 all cars must have one or two working brake lights fitted inside the rear window aperture i.e. fog lights these must only be operated by depressing the brake peddle
FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
48 We advise a min 1.0 kg dry powder or c02 and must have a working gauge it be within reach of the driver it must not be taped in
RACE NUMBERS
49 all cars must have roof fins with 8"numbers white on black or black on white door numbers must be 12" white on black or black on white if the lap scorers cant see your numbers you will not be lap scored
MIRRORS
50 cars must be fitted with a adequate rear view mirror glass is not recommended
GLASS
51 all glass must be removed
WINDOW NET
52 a non metallic drivers door net is compulsory
SEAT AND HARNESS
53 a 3" 5 point harness is compulsory including crutch strap it must comply with F.I.A. regulations manufacture race seats must have head restraint with correct slots for harness they must remain in as near as possible to their original position and must not tilt it must be bolted in 4 places though the floor, or onto cage, harnesses can use original fixing or eye bolts which must have 3x3x3mm plates fixed under the floor
CRASH HELMETS
54 crash helmets must be worn at all times when racing or practicing
55 type bs6658/85 type a bs66558/85 typea/fr snell sa 2000 sfi fondation 31.1 or foundation 31.2 or E2205 in fibreglass only
RACE OVERALLS
56 drivers must wear a minimum of proban overalls, fire proof gloves are compulsory, neck braces are compulsory.
IF IT’S NOT IN THE RULES YOU CAN’T DO IT
If you wish to do something not written in these rules, you must obtain written permission from your promoter that you are registered to race with.
We reserve the right to declare your car illegal if it does not conform to the rules set out above, penalties will be imposed should we find your car to have an infringement to the rules stated.
We have the right to strip or check your car at any point without written notification.
Junior Rod drivers are eligible to move up to the Euro Rod formula at the age of 15 however your car must conform to the new 2011 Euro Rod Rules fully and once you have moved up to the adult formula you will not be eligible to compete in any junior rod or rookie formula, you will also have to pay an additional Ten pound to upgrade your licence to an adult licence.
All drivers must be Signed on by 17:30 at the latest (on a Saturday meeting) or you will be charged an additional £5.00 to race and also forfeited any prize monies won, we are having to adopt this rule as drivers continually turn up late and hold the meeting up
